Measure your patents.
Don't just count them.

Bring a patent set. Get technology groups, zones, how each one evolved, and where the whitespace is. In hours, with every number traceable to its patents.

What you get

One patent set. Five answers.

Everything below comes from the same set, in the same live report.

Tech Evolution

See how a technology group developed over time. Know where a field is heading, not only where it stands today.

Deep dives

Zoom into any part of a technology group, down to a pocket of a few patents. Ideation and whitespace analysis are live here.

Technology groups

Patents grouped by the meaning of their claims, in any filing language. The same set returns the same groups every run.

Zones

Every group sits in a zone, so you see where the competition is and where new approaches are appearing.

Measure how far a group has agreed on one approach. Find the areas still up for grabs.

How the analyst works with it

You stay in control at every step

Semantyr starts after your search. The model proposes. You decide.

Any technology. Any language.

The model works on the meaning of claims. So every patent is treated by what it protects and the approach it takes, not by its field or the language it was filed in.

Engineering

Vehicle lighting

An illustrative landscape we ran on real patent data: ~2,500 patents in five technology groups. We asked one group a single question. Is this field settled, or still up for grabs?

Four sub-groups. Four different answers. A wide-open area of ~500 patents is something a business can act on.

Counting or measuring

Why the answer is different

The usual way
The measured way
Sorting
A manual tree of categories, or classification codes. Weeks for a few thousand patents.
A mathematical model groups patents by claim meaning. Same set, same groups, every run.
Reading
Charts of patents per year, top companies and countries.
Each group measured as Settled, Forming or Wide open.
Insight
Totals and averages hide small, local changes.
Deep dives down to a pocket of a few patents.
Explaining
"The tool produced it." The conversation ends.
Every number traces back to its patents. The math decides. The language model only writes.

Questions we hear

Does it work for my technology?+
Yes. Landscape works on the meaning of claims, so any technology and any filing language is treated the same way: by what the claim protects and the approach it takes. Engineering, software and ICT, and life sciences all run through the same method.
What is a patent landscape analysis?+
A study of all the patents in one area of technology. It shows who is inventing what, where, and how fast. Companies use it to decide where to spend on research, law firms to advise clients, and universities to find who might license their work.
How is Semantyr different from using ChatGPT or another AI tool?+
A language model writes likely sentences. Ask it twice and the groups can come back different. In Semantyr, a mathematical model forms the groups and counts the patents. The language model only writes up the measured results.
What is patent whitespace analysis?+
Finding the parts of a technology field where few approaches have taken hold, and the problems nobody has solved yet. In Semantyr it is part of the deep dive.
Why aren't IPC or CPC codes enough to group patents?+
A code tells you which shelf a patent sits on. Patent office staff assign it so the patent can be routed and found again, and the lists are revised a few times a year. Two patents that solve the same problem in opposite ways can share a shelf. Closeness in meaning has to be measured.
Can the results be checked and repeated?+
Yes. Every number lists the patents behind it, and the same patent set returns the same technology groups on every run. Present it to the board this year, run it again next year, and compare the two.
Can I download my report?+
Yes, any time and at any step. Download the report in one click and share it by email, so decisions can also happen offline.
Do I still need to search for patents myself?+
Yes. Semantyr starts after the search. You bring the patent set you have already built with your usual tools, and the analyst stays in control at every step.

See it on your own patent set

The data was always there. Nobody was asking it anything. Bring a set and we will show you what it says when you measure it.
